Swings, springers and spinners deliver the movement children love — the swing of a nest, the bounce of a springer and the spin of a roundabout — building balance, core strength and coordination.
What it is
Swings, Springers & Spinners
Swings, springers and spinners are the moving items in a playground. Swings — flat-seat, cradle and basket or nest swings — give the classic to-and-fro; springers (spring rockers) bounce and rock; and spinners and roundabouts turn, giving the spinning motion children seek out.
Movement play is not just fun: swinging, bouncing and spinning develop balance, core strength and the vestibular sense that underpins coordination. We supply inclusive options too — basket and nest swings, and wheelchair-accessible roundabouts — so children of all abilities share the movement. All are installed to BS EN 1176.

The right movement for each age
Cradle swings and low spring rockers suit the early years; flat-seat and nest swings suit primary; and basket swings and roundabouts let several children — including wheelchair users on accessible units — move together. A nest swing is a firm favourite because a group can share it and children can lie back and relax on it.
Because moving items need generous safety zones for the arc of the swing or the sweep of a roundabout, we plan their position carefully within the wider layout and install the correct fall-height surfacing beneath them.

What types of swing do you install?
We install flat-seat swings, cradle (bucket) swings for younger children, and basket or nest swings that a group can share. Inclusive and wheelchair-accessible movement options are available too. All are installed to BS EN 1176.
What is a springer?
A springer, or spring rocker, is a seat mounted on a heavy spring that children rock and bounce on. Scaled for the early years, springers are a low, safe way to add movement play for younger children.
Are roundabouts and spinners safe?
Yes, when correctly specified, installed and surfaced. Modern roundabouts and spinners are designed to BS EN 1176 with controlled speed and the correct safety zones, and inclusive versions allow wheelchair users to join in.
Do swings need a lot of space?
Swings and spinners need generous safety zones to allow for the arc of the swing or the sweep of the roundabout. We plan their position within the layout so the safety zones stay clear of paths and other equipment.
