What are thermoplastic playground markings?
Thermoplastic playground markings are pre-formed, colour-fast shapes that are heat-bonded onto tarmac or concrete. Unlike painted lines, they fuse into the surface, so they stay bright and slip-resistant for years of daily use.

Playground markings: common questions
How long do thermoplastic playground markings last?
With normal school use, thermoplastic markings typically last 5 to 8 years or more. They are far more durable than paint, which can fade and peel within a year or two.
How are the markings installed?
The pre-formed shapes are laid out on clean tarmac and heated until they melt and bond into the surface. A typical playground is completed in a day or two, usually with no need to close the whole site.
Can markings be added to our existing playground?
Yes. As long as the tarmac or concrete is sound and reasonably clean, we install straight onto your existing surface. If it is worn, we can advise on repairs or resurfacing first.
Are they safe and slip-resistant?
Yes. Thermoplastic markings have a textured, anti-slip finish and are designed for busy playgrounds. Colours are UV-stable so they stay vivid.
Can old or unwanted markings be removed?
Yes, we can remove or refresh tired markings and replace them with a new design that suits how you want the space used today.
