What it is
Playground Climbing Frames
A climbing frame is a multi-activity play structure that combines climbers, scramble nets, rock walls, bridges and often a slide into one unit. Children choose their own route up, over and through it, which builds upper-body strength, coordination and the confidence to take on a challenge.
Frames are graded by age: lower, simpler units with wide steps and low platforms for the early years, and taller, more complex structures with nets and walls that keep KS2 and secondary pupils engaged. Every frame is manufactured and installed to BS EN 1176, over safety surfacing matched to its fall height.

What age are climbing frames suitable for?
Climbing frames are specified by age group: low, simple units for EYFS and KS1, and taller, more complex frames with nets and walls for KS2 and secondary. We match the height and challenge to the children who will use it.
What safety standard do climbing frames meet?
Commercial climbing frames are designed and installed to BS EN 1176, with the surfacing beneath them to BS EN 1177. We provide a post-installation inspection report on completion.
What surfacing goes under a climbing frame?
The surfacing is matched to the frame's Critical Fall Height — usually wet pour, rubber mulch, grass mats or artificial grass over a shockpad. We specify and install the equipment and surfacing together.
How much space does a climbing frame need?
As well as the frame's footprint, it needs a safety zone all around it, set by its height and the standard. We design the layout to fit your space with the correct safety zones included.
