We think in zones: an active zone for energetic play, a social zone for gathering, a sensory zone for exploration and a calm zone to withdraw to. Clear routes and natural cues between them make the space predictable, so a child can see what is coming and choose where to go.
Sensory input is offered gradually and by choice rather than forced, letting a child dial up or down as they need. Robust, well-finished materials and strong sightlines keep the space safe and easy to supervise, tested to BS EN 1176, so staff can support children calmly from a distance.
