Do outdoor classrooms need planning permission?
Free-standing structures more often need planning permission than wall-mounted canopies, particularly larger ones or those near a boundary. We assess this for your site and prepare and submit the application where it is required.
Steel or timber — which is better?
Both are excellent. Powder-coated steel gives long spans and a crisp, low-maintenance finish in any colour; timber gives a natural look that suits forest-school and woodland settings. We advise based on the setting and budget.
Can the classroom be enclosed?
Yes. Structures can be left fully open, or have side panels, seating or half-walls added to give more shelter while keeping the airy, outdoor feel.
