Sensory Playground Equipment

Sensory Playground Equipment encourages children to learn about the world around them via sight, sound, touch, and smell.

At Commercial Play, we believe that all children should have access to playground equipment that works for their needs and abilities.

Sensory Playground Equipment is one of the best ways to meet everyone’s requirements, build self-confidence, and encourage social interaction.

What is a Sensory Playground?

A sensory playground includes elements that stimulate and provoke a child’s ‘seven senses.’ Sensory Playground Equipment encourages them to use movement, smell, taste, sight, hearing, balance, and touch to navigate the world around them and learn new skills.

Tactile play experiences have been proven to benefit childhood brain development and encourage inclusive play. Incorporating sight, sound, touch, and even smell, sensory play benefits every child differently. Sensory play allows children to navigate the world around them, safely push boundaries, and investigate their surroundings in new ways.

What is Inclusive
Playground Equipment?

Inclusive Playground Equipment allows every child to get involved, regardless of their unique needs. It can include soil, sand, and water for a delightfully messy mud pie kitchen, or a garden filled with herbs, bugs and plants. Sundials, outdoor art stations, and wind chimes can all create a rich and varied landscape of play.

At Commercial Play, we design and build a wide range of sensory areas for all ages, from EYFS to adults. Choose from our ‘off the shelf’ sensory products or allow our expert team to create a bespoke design specifically for your needs.

We delight in creating rich and rewarding Sensory Paths, Planting Areas, Sand and Water Play, Music, Performance Stages, Amphitheatres, Wind Chimes, Textured Tactile Panels, and bespoke structures to create unique areas that everyone can enjoy all year round.

What Do you Call the Things in a Playground?

We get this question a lot! We call the things in a playground ‘equipment,’ and we have a wide selection of playground equipment to choose from, designed for diverse needs.
